Effective Teacher

What is an effective teacher? First, measure creativity, joy and knowledge. Then, data-crunch love, instinct & passion. That's only the beginning of the definition of an "effective teacher".

Realities

In 2017, approximately 4% of adolescents aged 12 to 17 suffered from a substance use disorder; this equals 1 in 25! https://americanaddictioncenters.org/rehab-guide/addiction-statistics

Close to one million children are abused or neglected each year and more than 500,000 children are in foster care. http://bit.ly/fTcOL3

8% to 16% of all children have a developmental or mental health problem. Only a fraction receive appropriate services. http://bit.ly/fTcOL3

Pseudo Philanthropy and “Social Entrepreneurs”

Many ed reformers take "social entrepreneurism" to mean that they can make money off of the hardships of others and look good in the eyes of the public. Charter schools are popping up across our country under the guise of "helping children". Beware of social entrepreneurs & pseudo philanthropists claiming they want to help. Follow the money.
