Here’s my comment on Huffington Post to Diane Ravitch’s article, “OBAMA’S RACE TO THE TOP WILL NOT IMPROVE EDUCATION”

When ed reformers and polititians start pointing fingers at hardworking teachers as the cause of the so called “failure” of our educational system, you know that there must be some kind of hidden agenda going on…what Mr. Arne Duncan would call a “quiet revolution”. This demonstrates how Duncan views teachers and parents. He sees them as the enemy. They are not. His disregard for them conveys complete and total disrespect.

This ed reform push, which includes highly unethical takeovers through mayoral control. is not about bringing in “effective teachers”, it’s about dismantling our education system so that the employees can be devalued and worked harder, thus making them expendable. This will fatten the pocketbooks of the edu-preneurs who are salivating at the mouth to take control of our education industry and privatize it. When you do that, you then destroy something that helped make our country great. In my view, this cleverly orchestrated and deceptive “quiet revolution” is a major threat to our country, and to our children who look to us to guide and direct them towards a bright future. Obama and Duncan’s Race to the Top is a guaranteed strategy to make the rich wealthier while destroying our children’s future and thus, our nation’s future. As Diane Ravitch explained above, RTTT will not improve education. Teachers know this and this is why Duncan and his ed reformers need to be stopped before it’s too late.
